Motion / Home / Hard Stop

The Hard Stop homing option allows you to utilize a fixed mechanical obstruction in the axis path to establish a home position. The InoDrive automatically detects this obstruction and acts accordingly.

Homing Profile

Although not required, it is typical to create a Profile just for the Home block. This is particularly true when using the Hard Stop option because it is common to run this at a slower speed and some fraction of the motor’s rated or maximum torque.

First, we will show an example Profile that we created named Home_to_Hard_Stop. We chose the torque to be 30% of rated and the speed to be 25% of rated.

Homing to Hard Stop Function

In our example, we placed the Home block and selected our Home_to_Hard_Stop Profile. In this example because we have NOT checked the Negative Dir box, we know that when we execute the Home block, the motor will run in the positive direction and use its obstruction detection algorithm to establish home.

If you check the Negative Dir box, then the Home block will run the motor in the negative direction.
